Ever since I have started making/hacking, I have always wanted to join a MakerSpace to collaborate with other that have like interests and have access to tools I couldn’t afford. After searching on the internet I found MakerSpaces, but nothing was close enough to be manageable between school and work. I’ve waited for one to start that is closer but it hasn’t happened yet. Now I have the opportunity to start one myself. I am reaching out to the community to see if other people are interesting is a MakerSpace too. If there is enough interest I can start working on making a MakerSpace in Denton, MD a reality.
What is a MakerSpace?
A MakerSpace (also referred to as a hacklab, hackerspace or hackspace) is a community-operated workspace where people with common interests, often in computers, >machining, technology, science, digital art or electronic art, can meet, socialize and collaborate. A MakerSpace is generally equipped with an array of flexible computer controlled tools that cover several different length scales and various materials, with the aim to make “almost anything”.
